MetaPhoto: privacy-conscious metadata overlays for iOS photos

MetaPhoto is an iOS app I built and shipped for adding useful metadata overlays to photos. It helps people show details such as capture time and location directly on an image.

The product

The app serves personal photo documentation as well as practical field use. A user can adjust the presentation of overlay information, preview changes as they work, and create an image that carries more context than the original photo alone.

What the app includes

  • Date, time, and GPS-coordinate overlays
  • Font, size, color, background, opacity, padding, and corner-radius controls
  • Live preview while changing overlay settings
  • Optional watermark controls
  • On-device image processing: photos and data are not uploaded for processing

Product approach

I built the experience around clarity and control. The user can see the effect of each setting immediately, while the app keeps photo processing on the device for privacy.

Why it is relevant

MetaPhoto demonstrates a practical iOS utility with a focused workflow: take information that is normally hidden in photo metadata and make it useful in the finished image.
